Saturday, October 13: Bricklaying

Isaac and Mega hosted the first-ever Creative Children's Workshop at the Artel in downtown Kingston. It was small but fun, with two creative children getting their hands into the craft of bricklaying as they built a small wall right inside the Artel.

Isaac shows how to hand-mix the mud that will cement the bricks together:

Meanwhile,Darragh discovers there's an easier way:

Laying the bricks:

Yasmine gets some more bricks for the wall out of the wheelbarrow...

...and the wall slowly takes shape:

Rafaela, one of the Artel's resident artists tries her hand at bricklaying, too:

Isaac gets ready to show the kids how to "point," or fill in all the spaces between the bricks:

It's not all work:

While Isaac finds time to sip a coffee, there's lots of time for plain old fun and games, too!

Meanwhile, Mega is the calm eye of the storm; she just lets it all happen around her...

A closer look at the tools of the trade:

Join us on Sunday, October 21 for the next Creative Children's Workshop on making bricks!
